There has been lots of talk recently about the online “discussion” between Matt (of WordPress fame) and Chris (of Thesis fame). Below is what went down on twitter. (It was also a nice test for our Twitter Blackbird Pie WordPress plugin)
Well, I can't stop @ from spreading propaganda and lies, but what I CAN do is be honest about the whole situation. Video coming.
@ I can send you a WP shirt if you need one.
Is it fair that I should be patronized? RT @ @ I can send you a WP shirt if you need one.
@ I'm just so broken up that WordPress is useless without , best theme in the world, responsible for all innovation.
Yo @, no one has claimed that Thesis is responsible for all innovation. Why are you handling your position so irresponsibly?
@ WordPress 3.0 is about 200k lines of code from people who agree with WordPress' license. How many is ?
Hey @, since when is the number of lines of code a measure of a software's validity, affect, and importance? http://bit.ly/dbMM0B
RT @ this "thesis is the devil" thing from @ is uncivil. Credibility is derived from reasonable discourse.
@ It's not civil to violate WordPress' license, for years, because you think it makes you more money.
@ The saddest thing is all the premium folks who went GPL proved you can be just as successful. The hard work is done.
@ Why do you think you understand WordPress' license better than the people who wrote it?
Hey @, I'm no lawyer, and I never said anything about my understanding of the GPL. All I said is that it does not apply to me.
@ Yes, you are above the law, and licenses. None of it applies to you. You can pick and choose which bits you like.
@ so just to confirm, Thesis contains no GPL code, and links no core WP code, so the GPL doesn't apply?
Follow the twitter convo live on http://bettween.com and see how it pans out.

And see what started it all : Thesis theme.
