It’s called by many names: Under construction; Holding page; Placeholder; Domain park; Coming soon etc etc.
Whether you are about to launch a new website or you are doing a major overhaul to your blog, you have to keep your visitors informed about what is going on. This is where an ‘under construction’ theme is your friend. There is nothing more irritating than visiting a site from a Google search, only to find a 404 page-not-found error or sometimes even a 500 server error. You want to keep your existing readers informed of any downtime and let them know when your site is expected to come back up. If your site hasn’t launched yet, you want to try and gain some new RSS subscribers or Twitter followers, and at the very least, inform them of the launch date.
